Kate O'Connor has been a full time professional musician and music teacher for over 30 years. Kate teaches keyboards, vocals, beginner guitar, and steel drum for most styles of popular music and beginning/intermediate classical piano. She also teaches music theory and song writing.
Kate performs regularly and has won best female vocalist awards in the Valley and Springfield Advocate's readers poll for Western Massachusetts. Kate has recorded several CDs of her original music, and has sung on many other artists recordings including vocal demos for over ten years for #1 hit songwriter and gold record winner Tony Romeo ("I Think I Love You").
Kate is an adjunct jazz vocal professor at Smith College. She studied music at UMASS, Ali Akbar College of Indian Music, and world music at Naropa Institute. "Creating and sharing music is one of the great joys of my life. I enjoy being able to share my passion and knowledge of music with my students and help them to further experience the joy, discipline, creativity, challenges, pleasures, and rewards of learning, communicating, and connecting with music."
Kate teaches on Thursdays.
